Kafafa Make a free website, free website builder, free hosting with Kafafa. It pretty much does what you’d expect – both free and commercial versions. This one promises no adverts on the freebie version, which is a good idea. Not actually tried it, but if you do, let me know how you get one!

Yola. Build Yours Today. Well, I presume that this does what it should, though I haven’t tried it. Just sign up, create a site and publish it. Does amuse me though when it says ‘Your customers are online and they expect your business to be there too. Create a free website with Yola in minutes.’ One could also add ‘and they expect you to be professional about it as well. But that’s just me being picky. There is a paid version of this resource as well.

YouBundle This is very like Zimbio and Squidoo in that it allows you to create collections of stuff and publish them for other people to view/use.

NameWidget Domain Searcher. This is very neat. Simply start typing, and this little utility will let you know if there are any domains that match what you’re typing, and if they are available. Very fast and effective, though it doesn’t do domains – it seems to limit itself to .com, .net, .org, .biz and .info domains. Quarkbase Everything about a Website. This is a cracking resource – it really does tell you just about everything to do with a website! Highly recommended.

SocialDownOrNot Social Networks availability – uptime and down time – slow performance.  Many more resources, performance and availability status, current performance, today’s uptime. This provides access to 20 social media resources.

socialmeter scans the major social websites to analyze a webpage’s social popularity.

TitsUp. God knows how much comment spam I’m going to get with this one. However, it’s useful – just type in the domain you can’t access and it’ll tell you if it’s up and running.

Whois Source Automatically generated suggestions.

WORDOID is a clever service that creates names based on a word you provide. Librarian gives natural sounding words such as quilibrarian, calibrarian and so on. It then goes on to tell you if various versions of the domain have been registered, and how many times the word is mentioned on the web. Great resource if you’re looking for a name for a website, product and so on.

Ohsopopular Your Web Rankings on Google, Delicious, Alexa, Delicious, Compete and more. This is a service to see how popular a URL is on the web. They check a bunch of different services and give you a number like Google Pangerank, Alexa Rank, Number of bookmarks on Delicious and so on. It’s basically a perfect tool for webmasters to check how your site is ranked across the web. It’s also a great way to see how you rank against your competition.

VisualizeTraffic Visualize How Big A Website Really Is!. This is a genius site. Type in a URL and find out lots of useful stuff provided in very helpful ways. If the website was a country (mine would be larger than Nauru with 11K+ visitors per day) 1 in every 145,854 internet visitors visit my site daily. That’s 2 Croatia Spaladium Arenas to seat them If they stood hand to hand and formed one long straight line it would be 13 kilometers long. My website uses an estimated total of $408 on electricity per year.

WebWait – Benchmark Your Website. This is great – whack in a URL and this’ll tell you how long the page takes to load. Great for web designers.

Who links to my Website Free tool to check who is linking to your website!. Pop in a URL and see when the site was created, when it expires, domain ranks with Google and Alexa, how many pages are indexed, backlinks, top keywords and so on. Short, concise and to the point.

Window size checker. Test your site in different window sizes. Opens your site in 4 different windows sizes so you can check to see if it works ok.

Xenu’s Link Sleuth (TM) If you are a web author and need to check the links on your site, this can be a tedious process. Xenu is an excellent resource that does this for you. I’ve used it before and think it’s great.

Do Loop – Website analyzer tool, Traffic statistics & Estimation reports. “We are a web analyzer service that provide wide range of data information about any website for free. Right now we use about 18 open API sources to gather information, We store 168,102,794 records in our databases and growing. Our goal is to let Webmasters & Visitors parallelly to understand the web a bit better.” This one values my site at $18,191.45, with a revenue of $1,735 a month.

Estimurl Website Value Estimator. Type in the address that interests you and see what it says. It provides details on daily unique visitors, ad revenue potential, Alexa rank, Google page rank, indexed pages, backlinks and so on. Not entirely accurate, but it’ll give you a rough idea. I tried this one, and it said my site was worth £12,501, with a daily ad revenue of £17 with 1,303 unique visitors a day.

WooRank Website analysis tool. This would be good if it was any good. Unfortunately it’s not. It got most things wrong about my site, from not having a title (which it does!) through to it being based in Lagos (which it isn’t!) Hopeless waste of time. Avoid.

Worth Of Web Website Worth, Value, Price Calculator. I’m always doubtful about these things – I’ve never had two of them agree on how much my site is worth, so they’re not actually that useful. However, for curiosity value I can’t resist them. My site is worth $12,960 according to this resource, with 4,000 daily visits and monthly revenue of $540.
